Composting: it’s something you don’t hear about as much as recycling or reducing emissions, but it is equally as important. Composting is an incredible way to reduce waste in your home in fact, according to the Mid-America Regional council between 25 – 35% of trash can be composted. Can you imagine what it would be like if each home was producing 35% less trash each week? In America alone, that would reduce nearly 250 thousand tons of garbage a year!

That’s why here at Busch Systems it has been so exciting to see a growing demand for compost collecting containers in South Eastern United States. It’s just catching on like never before; I have been getting call after call from people interested in our Kitchen Compost bins, not only because composting is growing in popularity but because the product is so easy to use!

We’ve been seeing more and more municipalities adding organics collection to their waste programs, especially in the Southeast. This is great news as we strive to lighten our landfills across North America.

I myself have begun to separate organics from the trash and I have noticed a big difference in the amount of garbage at the end of the week. So for all of you out there who don’t compost I challenge you to try it out for a little while. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is and how much waste you reduce!
