What is a Plastic Granulator?

August 16, 2016

A plastic granulator is a machine used for breaking down plastic products for recycling. These machines come in a variety of types for industries and workshops and the various sizes of plastic products. Most often, granulators will deal with consumer plastics like polyethylene and polypropylene as they are much easier to granulate than tougher plastics like ABS, Nylon, or PC..

In the process, plastics are separated and washed to remove any contaminants. Once the plastic is fed into the granulator, a series of cutting knives within the rotor is powered by an electric motor to break the plastic into smaller pieces. The processed content is then supplied to companies who manufacture plastic products.
