The next funding cycle for the SWACO Community Waste Reduction Grant Program is officially open, with expanded funding available to help support waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and food donation initiatives across Central Ohio.
Last year, SWACO awarded more than $275,000 to community organizations and local governments working to divert materials from landfill through innovative programs and education initiatives. Funded projects included reusable coffee cup programs, donation incentive initiatives, sporting goods reuse efforts, and school-based waste education programs.
For the new grant cycle, SWACO has increased the maximum grant amount to $50,000, a more than 40% increase from previous years, signaling continued investment in community-led diversion and circular economy programs. Applications will be accepted through August 7, 2026.
