Big things are growing in Barrie! Living Green Barrie has reached an incredible milestone, planting its 10,000th tree in the community. We were honoured to be invited to celebrate this achievement at a special ceremony on October 21, recognizing the organization’s ongoing commitment to local environmental action.
It truly is a milestone worth celebrating not just for the number of trees planted, but for the lasting impact that community-driven environmental initiatives can have on the place we call home.
10,000 Trees and a Greener Future
Living Green Barrie’s 10,000 Trees for Barrie campaign set out to strengthen the city’s urban forest by planting native trees throughout the community. These trees contribute to a healthier local environment by helping capture carbon, improve air and water quality, support biodiversity, and build a more resilient urban ecosystem.
Reaching 10,000 trees represents years of dedication, collaboration, and hands-on work. It’s a reminder that meaningful environmental progress doesn’t happen overnight. It grows through consistent action and the collective efforts of organizations, volunteers, donors, and community members working toward a shared goal.

Founded in 1991, Living Green Barrie has spent more than three decades inspiring people to make responsible environmental choices.
