Each and every one of us has the ability to contribute to a better tomorrow.
At Busch Systems, our goal is to lead through innovation so we can equip you with the tools and resources that will make a positive impact on our environment.
What is Carbon Footprint?
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases, including but not limited to carbon dioxide and methane, that are generated through our actions, activities and products. More specifically, a product’s carbon footprint measures the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions through its lifecycle – from raw material extraction and production to its final use by consumers.
Why Does Our Carbon Footprint Matter?
It’s not a new realization that our planet is seeing the negative effects of carbon emissions through unusual climate changes and environmental events. As humans, we cannot continue our current path, and must make a drastic and impactful change.

The Power of Recycled Materials
We are committed to incorporating recycled materials into both existing and new products as part of our ongoing sustainability efforts. Leveraging the CarbonGraph database allows us to quantify the environmental benefits of using recycled content. For example, within several product lines, our analysis has shown that switching from raw HDPE to post-consumer recycled HDPE can reduce a product’s carbon footprint by approximately 50% – a significant impact.
Driving Impact Through Data
Building on insights from our product carbon footprint tracking, in addition to using recycled content, we prioritize sourcing sustainable packaging, partnering with local suppliers, and manufacturing our products in North America. These data-driven efforts help us refine sustainability goals, drive meaningful climate action, and continue collaborating with suppliers and our research and design team to implement effective improvements that reduce emissions.

Working Together To Make A Difference
Using CarbonGraph’s innovative technology, we measure our product carbon footprints and pinpoint the most effective opportunities to reduce emissions across our supply chain.
Our collaboration with the CarbonGraph team also supports the development of their software and helps us lead by example, demonstrating how data and technology can empower other organizations to measure their environmental impact.

Thank you for helping us reduce our carbon footprint
We want to say thank you to Sam, Nicholas, Luke and the rest of the CarbonGraph team for their efforts that will have a lasting positive effect on our planet for years to come. We also want to extend a big thank you to our suppliers, who have worked with us and provided us with the information required to fully track the lifecycle of our products. And lastly, thank you to the continued efforts of our Operations and R&D teams who will be using this data to include increased amounts of Post-Consumer Recycled Content in all our containers and will now find more ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
See the Bigger Picture in Sustainability
From beach cleanups to tree-planting, we actively seek to contribute to the economic and social wellbeing of our local community here in Barrie, Ontario. Busch supports local small businesses & grassroots charity organizations, empowers those pushing for progressive change, and has philanthropy built into our operations through employee volunteering supports, and formal community investment policies.

* GHG Protocol is a comprehensive and globally standardized framework that allows for consistency in how companies measure and manage greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol gives guidance on how companies can measure emissions from electricity and other energy purchases, and account for emissions from their value chains. All of CarbonGraph’s product carbon footprints are generated using the greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol and The Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard, which is a standard published by the GHG Protocol that specifically gives rules for carbon accounting for products.
