What is Pre-Consumer Recycled Content?

Pre-consumer recycled content refers to materials that are diverted from the waste stream during the manufacturing process, before they are sold to consumers, and are reprocessed into new products. This includes scrap, trimmings, or defective products generated during production.

Want to Know More

Pre-consumer recycled content is often called post-industrial recycled material, and the terms are largely interchangeable. It differs from post-consumer recycled content, which comes from products that have been used and discarded by consumers. Using pre-consumer material reduces waste from production, saves resources, and can lower environmental impact. Industries like paper, textiles, plastics, and metals commonly use this type of recycled content to create new products while minimizing the need for virgin materials.
