Composting & Organic Bins
If you’re not already collecting compost at home or in your office, you should really start. Each home could potentially divert hundreds of pounds of kitchen material from the landfill by collecting organics. Even if your town/city does not have a curbside organics collection program you could consider backyard composting. The Soil Saver is perfect for home backyard composting and easy to assemble and use. Check out our How to Guide for Composting to learn even more. Many people avoid compost collection as they are worried about the ‘ick’ factor. However, now there is the perfect solution for eliminating the inivitable odor. Our Kitchen Compost Collectors are all available with a vented lid which houses an activated charcoal filter. This filter will absorb the odors and therefore eliminate the dreaded ‘ick’ factor completely.
Many municipalities are now implementing organics curbside collection, which is great news! To help with this new trend we have some options for curbside compost bins. One being the GO-Cart (Green Organics) which has an excellent handling capacity and long lifespan. Another is the Mini Max Reflector which is lightweight and includes reflectors to help identify the bin while at the curbside, avoiding the tricky obstacle of backing out without hitting the compost container. Hopefully many more municipalities will follow suit in adopting their own curbside organics collection program. By reducing the amount of waste entering a landfill the costs to maintain that landfill will be reduced and the lifespan increased. If you are a gardener you may opt to backyard compost as you will create rich soil that will benefit both your plants and your wallet.
